Jessica Harris is from New Orleans, La. She attended high school and college in Colorado and has enjoyed living in Florida since 1994. Jessica Harris has been involved with the Deaf and Interpreting community since 1996. The first Deaf person she met was actually the instructor for her first sign language class. She received her Associate’s Degree in Sign Language Interpretation and received the 1997-1998 Outstanding Internship in Interpreter Training Award from Hillsborough Community College Tampa, FL. At this time, she received her QA Level 3 interpreting credentials from the Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (F.R.I.D.).
Jessica Harris continued her education and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sign Language Interpretation from the University of South Florida. During this time, she also enjoyed working for five years as a Program Director for the local Deaf Service Center. She is a former PAH!FRID President (Pasco and Hernando Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf). In 2004, she branched off to run her own Interpreting Agency. In addition, she provided 12 years of service as a Board Member for the non-profit organization Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services of Florida, Inc. She looks forward to continuing to be actively involved in the community and providing superior service to Florida.
At Jessica Harris Interpreting Services, our mission is simple, to make sure no one is ever left out of an important conversation. We believe communication is a right, not a privilege, and every person deserves access to clear, accurate, and respectful interpreting.
Whether the setting is a hospital, a courtroom, a classroom, or a business meeting, our goal stays the same, to bridge the gap and protect the integrity of every message. We hold ourselves and our interpreters to the highest ethical standards, because the people relying on us deserve nothing less.
Since our founding, Jessica Harris Interpreting Services has grown alongside the Tampa Bay community we serve. What started as one interpreter’s commitment to accessibility has become a trusted agency supporting hospitals, schools, courtrooms, and businesses across the region. Take a look back at our journey in the video below. We are proud of how far we have come, and even more excited for what is ahead.
